Daydreaming about Rocky....

Well, today we lost our Chocolate Lab. We think it was heart worms, but really don't know. He was  fine and then didn't eat much yesterday and today was weak.  Rocky was my son's dog and loved his igloo dog house and little pen. I've never seen a dog that preferred the small space to running lose, but he did.  He'd play for a while and run all around the yard then back home he'd go.

I was told once that labs don't like change. It must have been true because we actually took down the pen he was in when we thought he'd out grown it and moved him to a larger space. We thought the dog would grieve himself to death, and we had to put it back up and put everything exactly the way it had been. He was definitely a creature of habit.

We will miss him.  We lost his buddy, Prissy our Well, today we lost our Chocolate Lab. We think it was heart worms, but really don't know. We will miss him.  We lost his buddy, Prissy our chichua two years ago. They were an odd pair. I have a photo of them when Rocky was around Prissy's size. They were sitting in our recliner chair.  We always take losing a pet pretty hard around our house.  Rocky was an outside dog, Sissy our Maltese Baby (who doesn't think she is a dog) is always with us and cries when we leave her.  As hard as it is to lose Rocky, I hope it's a long time before we have to go through this again.
